Domwein Riesling trocken
The Dom (cathedral) in question is Cologne’s, to which this vineyard (Senheimer Vogteiberg) belonged for 700 years, until Napoleon’s secularization. It is a steep, south-facing, old-vine site (maybe not as imposing as the magnificent cathedral—the only instance of a building trumping a vineyard in all of Germany), with mostly blue slate, and the wine has trademark Stein pep and lift, with easy, smooth, round fruit.
