Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spätlese Devon
Named for the rocks of the Devonian Period—blue, gray, and brown slate from the formerly-named Hasenläufer site, at the foot of the Brauneberg hillside within today’s expanded Juffer—which give the wine its crystalline character. After a long pre-fermentation maceration, Stefan spontaneously ferments this top dry-tasting cuvée (ca. 13 g/l residual sugar) entirely in steel rather than his usual old Fuder. It combines elegance, guts, and charm. A house favorite.
